Photography Scavenger Hunt for Kids | Quarantine Fun

While kids across our community are at home for the foreseeable future, we wanted to bring you guys some fun activities that will keep them creatively busy (and less likely to turn into a scene from Lord of the Flies).

So, we are bringing to you a Photography Scavenger Hunt! Every day there will be a different challenge/hunt that they need to complete. All they need is a camera phone or a tablet with a camera and a collage app downloaded and ready to go.

These activities were designed with kids ages 5-12 in mind, but can be adapted if needed!

How Do We Play?

It is easy!

  1. Join our Facebook Group – KGP Clients for Life - each day we will post the prompt for that day’s hunt. I will also post on Instagram!

  2. Your kids need to complete each challenge and create either a single collage image, or a few, depending on the specific prompt.

  3. Post your kids’ creation under the post of the day in the Facebook Group to encourage others

  4. Share their photo creations on your own Facebook page with the hashtag #kgp2020photohunt or on Instagram and tag @kimberlingrayphotography. There is too many stressful posts on social media right now. Let’s fill the feed with positive and fun things our kids are doing!

Check back to this blog post daily for tips, tricks and ideas to help your kids get their creative juices flowing for each challenge.

p.s. Adults can participate as well! I do encourage your older children to help the younger ones out and each of them complete their own hunt!

Now … let’s get this party started … I can’t wait to see what your kids create.

To give you an idea of what to do … here is my first name! I went into the pantry and photographed each letter close up and then used PicStitch (PicCollage is also great!) to assemble the letters into a collage that made my first name. I would only show this to your child if they need help getting started. Otherwise let their creative minds take over! Then each collage will look uniquely different! Have fun and I can’t wait to see what your child’s name collage looks like!

“We’re Going on a Bear Hunt….Gonna Catch a BIG ONE!” One of my favorite preschool activities when I was a teacher!! This one can take a little bit of time or a LOT of time, depending on how much you want the kids occupied. You can have them find a certain number of bears or let them find ALL the bears! If you don’t have a bunch of teddy bears, they can choose their own favorite animal, collect and photograph them all and then make a collage. If they are having a good time, they can do this with multiple different animals!! The sky’s the limit - let them go wild! (see what I did there? :P )

How many kids books are in your room or playroom? I bet there are a bunch - maybe even one for each letter of the alphabet?? Let’s see if you can make a tall stack and put them in ABC order!! Happy hunting!
