Willy Wonka Baby's 1st Birthday | Virginia Beach Cake Smash Photographer

This is one of my absolute favorite cake smash themes EVER - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a classic and when Hunter's mom mentioned wanting a Willy Wonka themed birthday cake smash, I almost shouted YES! at the top of my lungs!  I knew that Ebony and Mark at Tutu Cute Cakes were going to have a ball with this theme, too - and they did not disappoint!!  I think this is one of the most amazing birthday cakes I've ever seen.  Hunter loved it too, as you can see from these pictures!

Hunter is one of our baby planners who came for our Milestones Plan, which is sessions at 4 months, 8 months and 12 months (including our boutique cake smash session).  It is always so wonderful to watch babies grow through their first year.  Here is the collage we put together for his mommy and daddy to remember how much he has grown!

Our first birthday cake smashes are some of our favorite types of sessions because we're able to not only be creative and experiment with new sets, but also to collaborate with other creatives.  The amazing Mark & Ebony from Tutu Cute Cakes always come through with amazing cakes and even sometimes help us with some background elements and brainstorming theme ideas.  Our newest photographer, Tina, is incredibly creative and has brought so much to our studio - can't wait to see what we create together in 2015.  But for now, please take a peek at some of our favorite cake smash sets from 2014: mermaid cake smashwinter blue and silver snowflake cake smashvintage train conductor cake smash cowboy twin cake smashwonder woman super hero birthday cake smash pink paris french tutu cake smashelf christmas snowflake theme cake smashshabby chic pink and brown cake smashgreen and purple pom pom cake smashvintage hot air balloon cake smash

Superhero and Dinosaur Cake Smash | Hampton Roads 1st Birthday Baby Photographer

Two of my favorite first birthday cake smash sessions on the blog today!  I had so much fun planning these smashes.  Sometimes I hear the moms of boys say that there isn't as much 'cute stuff' available for boys as there is for girls. But I disagree - and these two cake smashes prove it! First up, is Gabriel - his family moved out of the area a few months after signing up for our Milestones Plan, so we had to do a bit of a schedule change.  His first birthday cake smash session was just a little early, but he was totally ready to eat some cake!

Next up is this special little guy, Gavin.  You may remember him from his newborn session or other Milestones Plan sessions - he sports some pretty serious scars from his incredible journey of surgeries over his first year.  He is a warrior and such a sweet baby who has a very special place in my heart!  Tutu Cute Cakes of Chesapeake, Virginia created an amazing cake and set for his smash.  He is our Superhero, so we put together a skyline and super cake just for Gavin!

Sweet Lucy returned to the studio for her first birthday cake smash and I was so excited to use this vintage candy shoppe backdrop for her smash!  Her mommy also brought the fluffiest tutu I've ever seen for her birthday portraits!!

This Australian themed cake smash absolutely rocked!  Since his daddy is from Australia, we decided to take those elements and really celebrate.  What a fun time we had smashing, too!
